Luis Diaz makes transfer preference clear amid Liverpool future uncertainty

Luis Diaz has reportedly revealed his preferred destination if he decides to leave Liverpool this summer.

The Colombian forward’s future remains uncertain, with several clubs showing interest in him during this transfer window.

Arne Slot still sees Luis Diaz as a key part of his project for the upcoming season. The club are reportedly preparing to offer him a new contract. Diaz’s current deal runs until 2027, meaning he still has two years remaining.

The Liverpool boss unlocked the winger’s potential, using him both as a left winger and centre-forward in the club’s title-winning 2024/25 season. Diaz scored 17 goals under Slot, making it one of the best campaigns of his career.

The 28-year-old was in the spotlight in recent days, as questions over his future at Anfield continued.

In this context, Diaz addressed the speculation during national duty, saying: “I’m very happy at Liverpool, I’ve always said it. They’ve treated me well since the first day…. We’re talking with other clubs.”

He also added: “It’s the transfer window, it’s normal. We’re waiting to see what happens. If Liverpool renew my contract, or if I have to stay the two years I have left, I’ll be happy. It’s up to them.”

Now, according to the latest reports from Mundo Deportivo, Luis Diaz has already made up his mind about where he wants to go—if he does leave Liverpool.

Where would Luis Diaz prefer to go if he leaves this summer?

The Colombian international reportedly only wants Barcelona as his next destination if he exits Liverpool in this transfer window.

Diaz is only considering the Spanish giants, and Barcelona also want the left winger in their squad. Manager Hansi Flick and sporting director Deco are both big admirers of him.

Earlier, Saudi club Al-Nassr showed strong interest in Diaz and made him a top target after Cristiano Ronaldo’s cryptic social media post cast doubts over his future. Reports suggest Al-Nassr are willing to offer around €85 million for Diaz.

However, the 28-year-old likely believes he still has plenty to offer at the top level in Europe and is not ready to move to Saudi Arabia just yet.

Choosing Barcelona also makes sense, as the Spanish club are actively searching for a natural left winger. But they’re unlikely to place a massive bid due to ongoing financial limitations.

Despite Al-Nassr’s big-money offer, Diaz seems focused on continuing his journey in elite European football, with Camp Nou as his next dream destination.
