Aston Villa’s well-documented financial issues continue as the club faces UEFA punishment.
Unai Emery’s side have been marred by PSR issues, which have only been made worse by their failure to secure UEFA Champions League football next year.
Villa have searched for ways to improve their situation, with Nassef Sawiris looking to sell the Women’s team in a bid to avoid future sanctions.
Villa’s financial woes have led to players like Marco Asensio’s future being in doubt, and the latest news is only likely to further stunt preparations for next season.

Villa to be fined around £5million for European financial breach
Villa have been battling to remain within financial limits, resorting to selling Jhon Duran in January in an attempt to balance the books.
This may have cost Emery’s side the chance to finish in the top five in the Premier League, after they missed out on a spot on goal difference.

MORE VILLA STORIES
As reported by The Times (3 June), UEFA are set to hit Villa and Chelsea with financial penalties for first-time breaches of the governing body’s financial rules.
Villa have held talks with UEFA’s Club Financial Control Board over a settlement, with UEFA due to confirm details of that settlement this month.
Ex-Villa scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – believes the figure will be around £5m, with the club facing much sterner repercussions should they repeat their oversight.
“I think Aston Villa will be fined around £5m,” King said.
“This is Villa’s first offence. Therefore, I don’t think the punishment will be too extreme. You usually get a slap on the wrist with a first offence.
“However, Villa will be advised not to breach any rules again. Otherwise, the fine will be much more serious.”

Villa fans still have plenty to be optimistic about
The end of the season was a disappointment, but the Villans now have an opportunity to emulate Tottenham and succeed in Emery’s favourite competition, the UEFA Europa League.
Despite having to rejig their transfer strategy, the club are still looking to be active in this summer’s transfer window, with Jack Grealish linked with an emotional return.
They also have a promising, young core of emerging talents throughout the squad and could be set for an exciting 2025/26 campaign.
