Liverpool are making moves — and serious ones — to land one of Europe’s brightest young playmakers. The Premier League giants have submitted an improved offer worth €134 million for Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, as the club pushes to finalise a blockbuster summer signing, as per The Athletic.
This new bid includes €118.7 million up front and another €15.4 million in performance-based add-ons.
It’s Liverpool’s second attempt in quick succession to secure the 22-year-old, who played a huge role in Leverkusen’s recent rise.
While Leverkusen continue to hold out for a figure closer to €150 million, it’s clear both clubs are inching toward an agreement. Wirtz, for his part, is eager to swap the Bundesliga for Anfield.

Florian Wirtz wants it, Liverpool needs it
Wirtz has reportedly already scoped out homes in the Liverpool area — a clear sign he’s ready to turn the move into reality. He’s also dropped hints before.
When asked in 2022 which star he’d like to play with, Wirtz simply replied: “Mo Salah.”
That dream might be coming true soon. Negotiations are expected to continue through the weekend, with Liverpool confident the deal will get over the line.
And it’s not just empty hype. Wirtz had a stunning 2023-24 season, helping Leverkusen go unbeaten in the league and win their first-ever Bundesliga title. He scored 18 goals and provided 20 assists — numbers that make midfielders everywhere jealous. In the latest campaign, he kept the form going with 16 goals and 15 assists.
Since debuting in 2020, he’s chalked up 122 goal contributions in under 200 games. No wonder Europe’s top clubs were circling — but it looks like Liverpool are about to win this one.
Could this be Liverpool’s next midfield magician? It sure feels like the Reds are about to Wirtz their magic again.
