Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson played the ful 90 minutes for Scotland as his country was beaten 3-1 on home soil by Iceland on Friday. The home players were booed off after the disappointing friendly result.
Goals from Andri Gudjohnsen, a Lewis Ferguson own-goal, and Victor Palsson, formerly of Liverpool, gave Iceland the win. John Souttar, the Rangers center-back, got what ended up being a consolation for Scotland.
"I think we all know that's nowhere near good enough," Robertson told BBC Scotland at the final whistle. "I don't want to say too much — we need to digest this and speak in the changing room before we start doing interviews.
"But I think we were too easily played through — any chance they had, they scored. We weren't good enough on the ball. We created chances but didn't take them.
"We were just nowhere near good enough. I don't think you can put a finger on one thing, but we need to get it right pretty quickly."
"The night didn't get off to a great start," manager Steve Clarke said. "But we just looked a little bit flat at times, even when we got back in the game.

"We made their goalkeeper work a few times — on another night maybe you get those finishes and it would be a different story. In two days time we're going to Liechtenstein so hopefully we'll get a performance."
Scotland plays Liechtenstein on Monday before Robertson will head on holiday. He will return for pre-season in the second week of July, potentially with more competition for places at Liverpool.
"We’re not daft, it looks as if a deal could potentially be done [for Milos Kerkez]," Robertson told BBC Scotland ahead of the Iceland game. "But, until that is done, I’ve not even given that a second thought.

"I back myself. I’ve got confidence in my own ability, and that drives me forward. I’ve had eight fantastic years at Liverpool in terms of winning trophies and being a mainstay in the team, which I’m incredibly proud of.
"I’m not getting any younger. I can’t change my age, but I still believe I’ve got a lot to give, and that’s what I focus on. I focus on myself — you can’t focus on other people or who you’re competing with."
Liverpool.com says: Robertson can only do so much from left-back with the rest of the Scotland team needing to do a bit more. With players like Scott McTominay doing well at club level, it should be possible.
Scotland has a mixture of players, though, and lacks quality in the final third. Young Liverpool winger Ben Doak is the big hope to change that in the coming years.
