Tottenham have targeted Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite as they look to bring in defensive reinforcements.
Spurs are desperate to strengthen their back line after injuries to central defenders derailed their Premier League campaign.
Radu Drăgușin suffered a long-term injury in February, while Micky van de Ven was used sparingly following his two setbacks in the winter.
Cristian Romero was also unavailable for a large chunk of the season and could be heading to Spain following concrete interest in the Argentine from Atlético Madrid.
Spurs had a £70million bid for Marc Guéhi rejected in the winter, and despite securing Kevin Danso on a permanent deal, the Lilywhites are understood to be prepared to bid big again, this time for Branthwaite.

The 22-year-old defender has been Everton’s stand-out performer in the last two seasons, with statistics clearly showing his influence on Merseyside, which has attracted the interest of many Premier League clubs.
This has accelerated Levy’s pursuit of the Englishman, and ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes the chairman is set to test the waters with a £50m bid, although this will likely be rejected.
“Knowing Levy, I would think the first offer would be £50m,” King said.
“I can’t see him going close to £80million. Tottenham overpaid for Richarlison from Everton. I don’t think they’ll want to do that again.
“I think Branthwaite would be a better signing than Richarlison. However, I still think that Tottenham would stick to £50m as an opening offer, and I think it would be rejected by Everton.”

Branthwaite is the perfect profile for Tottenham
Tottenham have been too reliant on first-team players being available to perform at the right level this season.
Romero possesses a high level of passing, while Van de Ven offers the athleticism.
Branthwaite is a perfect blend of both, as he is extremely comfortable with the ball at his feet and able to find progressive passes while possessing all the physical attributes to defend both in the box and in transition.
