Inter Milan president Giuseppe Marotta has confirmed Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund is of interest to the Italian club.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News on Wednesday, Inter are considering swooping for the Danish international in this summer's transfer window as part of their plan to rebuild their squad.

Despite scoring a respectable tally of 16 goals in his first season at United, Hojlund struggled for form in his second season at the club, scoring just 10 goals across all competitions. He only scored four times in the Premier League this term.

Amid United's willingness to sell any member of their squad this summer, Hojlund is attracting interest from clubs in Italy. He joined the Reds from Italian side Atalanta for an initial fee of £64million in August 2023.

Now, Inter chief Marotta has confirmed Hojlund, 22, is on their radar and could be "the subject of investigation and possible negotiations".

Asked if Hojlund is on their list of targets, Marotta, speaking to TMW, said: "We have been working, in particular [Piero] Ausilio and [Dario] Baccin, for months on what could be possible adjustments, we know that the offensive department is the one that receives the most attention.

"The names you have made can be included in a list of other names that will be the subject of investigation and possible negotiations."

Hojlund spent just one season in Italy prior to joining United, scoring 10 goals in 34 appearances for Atalanta, nine of which came in his 32 Serie A appearances.

Inter are determined to strengthen their attacking options after falling short in both Serie A and the Champions League this season.

They missed out on the Serie A title by just one point and then lost 5-0 to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final the following weekend.

United want to sign a new striker themselves this summer and offloading Hojlund would generate funds and free up space for a new addition at the top end of the pitch.
