BBC Journalist Confirms "One Other Premier League Side" Is Expected To Rival Chelsea For West Ham Ace

Chelsea have competition from “one other Premier League side” and “several” foreign clubs for West Ham forward Mohammed Kudus, according to BBC reporter Sami Mokbel.

The journalist is known for his reliability when it comes to transfers, and he says “multiple enquiries” have been lodged for the player.

While no bids have been formally tabled, Kudus is said to be open to leaving if he can join a team playing in the Champions League.

For their part, the Hammers would be willing to sell the Ghanaian international as they need to raise funds for their own transfer business.

Which clubs are pursuing Kudus?

Mokbel does mention Arsenal as a potential suitor. They do have a long-term interest in the winger but it is not known whether they have made an approach this summer.

Newcastle, Manchester United and Liverpool have also considered moves for Kudus in previous transfer windows.

How much money can West Ham raise from selling the player?

Kudus’s release clause is only active for 10 days at the beginning of July. Teams can pay £85m to secure his signature, although it’s unlikely that anyone will pay that much.

There are suggestions that a fee in the region of £60m would be accepted, but the level of interest in the 24-year-old may lead to the Irons reconsidering their stance.

Chelsea do have several players that Graham Potter’s side are interested in. Robert Sanchez, Djordje Petrovic, Axel Disasi, Trevoh Chalobah, Tosin Adarabioyo and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall have all been linked with transfers to the London Stadium over the last six months or so.

However, for the time being, a swap deal is not under consideration. One way or another, though, it appears Kudus’s days at West Ham are numbered.
