Former Chelsea defender Thiago Silva has sent a message to Andrey Santos after he featured for Brazil this week. The highly-rated 21-year-old was included in Carlo Ancelotti's first matchday squad for the FIFA World Cup qualifier against Ecuador on Thursday, June 5.
Santos started the game from the bench, before replacing Gerson in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, Selecao could only manage a 0-0 draw on the night, and now sit fourth in the South American Qualification table.
After the game, Santos shared a picture of himself on social media and Thiago Silva was quick to respond. The veteran defender wrote (via Tribuna):
"My baby boy."
Santos rose through the ranks at Vasco da Gama to break into the senior side. His impressive performances soon earned him admirers in Europe, and Chelsea won the race for his signature in January 2023.
The player formally joined the Blues that summer before being shipped to Nottingham Forest on loan. However, his stay at the City Ground wasn't fruitful and he joined Strasbourg on loan in February 2024.
The Brazilian hit the ground running with the Ligue 1 side and his loan deal was extended for another season last summer. Santos registered 11 goals and five assists from 34 games across competitions for the French club this campaign.
It is believed that the youngster developed a close bond with Thiago Silva during their time together at Chelsea. Santos is likely to be in the Blues' squad for the FIFA Club World Cup.
Are Chelsea eyeing a move for Nico Williams this summer?

Nico Williams
Chelsea and Arsenal are both prioritising a move for Nico Williams this season, according to acclaimed journalist Fabrizio Romano. The Spanish forward has been in inspired form for Athletic Bilbao in recent years and apparently has admirers in London.
Williams registered 11 goals and seven assists from 45 games across competitions this season for the Basque club. He is under contract at San Mames until 2027 and reportedly has a €58m release clause in his deal.
That makes him an affordable option for the Premier League duo. The Blues have invested in talented young footballers in recent years, and Williams suits their transfer strategy as well.
Chelsea also have the funds available to trigger the 22-year-old's release clause. However, Romano adds that the player is settled with Athletic Bilbao and the LaLiga club want to renew his contract. Recent reports have suggested that Williams wants £400,000 per week to move to the Premier League.

Inspired by Diego Maradona, Deepungsu played as an attacking midfielder for his local club at subdivision level in his initial years and scored an important goal or two. However, his all-time favorite footballer is Lionel Messi, and evidently, he feels Argentina's glory in 2022 is his favorite FIFA World Cup moment for fulfilling his long-standing dream. He is also an ardent East Bengal fan.
Deepungsu has been a Manchester United supporter since the year 2000. Unsurprisingly, his favorite manager is Sir Alex Ferguson and the Scotsman helped him get through some of the toughest days of his life. Like the fiery Scot, Deepungsu also leaves no stone unturned when it comes to accuracy in articles and only relies on credible sources.
Despite believing in Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland to create an iconic rivalry, Deepungsu reckons no one can match the longevity of Messi and Ronaldo. He spends his leisure time writing about life on his blog, reading books, and playing the guitar.
