Slovenia win petty friendly without Gunners target

Nearly one year to the day since holding England to a goalless draw at Euro 2024, Slovenia ground out a 1-0 win in Luxembourg yesterday.

And Matjaž's men did so without Arsenal target Benjamin Šeško leading the line in an evenly-match and cagey affair.

RB Leipzig's €100million-rated centre-forward did not travel with his team to Luxembourg officially due to injury.

But experts reading more into it believe he stayed behind for precaution so as to not jeopardize his chances of a big-money switch to north London.

Yet in Šeško's absence, Svetlin's outrageous back-heel flick on the stroke of half-time was enough to leave the tiny country with a win.

Luxembourg could have snatched a draw late on.

But Dirk Carlson's header was efficiently palmed over by Igor Vekič who deputised for Atletico Madrid star goalkeeper Jan Oblak.
