'A vital role': Ruben Amorim has already explained how'dangerous'Viktor Gyokeres will'transform'Man Utd

Manchester United’s hunt for a new striker looks set to take priority this summer.

Ineos are going all in this summer, with big sales and arrivals expected.

The attacking department is set to be completely overhauled after a season in which Manchester United scored just 44 goals in the Premier League.

Already, United have agreed to sign Matheus Cunha in a bid to replace the impending sale of Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford.

In addition, United are close to signing Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, which would see the double move complete, adding 35 Premier League goals from last season immediately to the under-performing Red Devils side.

Next on the agenda will be a new number nine, with Viktor Gyokeres emerging as the most likely option.

What Ruben Amorim loves about Viktor Gyokeres

With Liam Delap heading to Chelsea, Gyokeres became the only real top striker option for United up front. Ruben Amorim has reportedly been in contact with Gyokeres ahead of a possible £60m move.

Now, we have looked back on Amorim’s comments on what makes Gyokeres so deadly, as they will surely become applicable to United.

Gyokeres would be an instant fit into the 3-4-2-1 Amorim system, with the head coach already sharing why the Swede is so important. After a win for Sporting in 2024, he told club media what Gyokeres offers.

“Now, Viktor gives us a different ability to go deep. He transforms the team because he makes us more dangerous at all times in the game. He has great physical attributes that come through especially at the end of the game.”

In the same interview, Amorim admitted that Gyokeres “plays a vital role” in how Sporting’s attack functioned.

Gyokeres’ physicality will be a huge boost compared to having Rasmus Hojlund up front, losing every duel, while his running will be perfect for Bruno Fernandes’ long passing.

Now, Hojlund is becoming a top target for Inter Milan, which will help fund the move for Gyokeres.

Manchester United have £60m available for Viktor Gyokeres

United’s efforts right now are focused on securing a deal to sign Mbeumo, but following this all efforts will be concentrated on Gyokeres or another striker.

Now, it has been reported by The Sun that United are ‘ready to win’ the race to sign Gyokeres for £60m with Ineos’ budget cuts easing the financial woes, allowing business to be done this summer.

The drastic wage cuts and a rare profit in the most recent fiscal quarter mean United are able to spend sensibly, and there are few deals more obvious than £60m for a player who scored 54 goals in 52 games last season.

In addition, Gyokeres would be Amorim’s striker choice, with Ineos’ handling of the finances giving the club space to make these deals happen, while sales will only allow further business to be done.
