Man United handed cut-price transfer for Cesc Fabregas favourite after Real Madrid decision

The latest Manchester United transfer news and rumours as the youngster has impressed in Serie A this season.

Nico Paz competes for the ball during the Serie A match between Como 1907 and FC Internazionale.

Manchester United have been linked with a transfer interest in Como midfielder Nico Paz.

Manchester United are reportedly keeping an eye on former Real Madrid youngster Nico Paz.

The 20-year-old completed a move to Serie A side Como last summer, signing a four-year deal with the club. The attacking midfielder has flourished under the guidance of former Premier League midfielder Cesc Fabregas.

In the season just gone he scored six goals and provided nine assists in 35 league appearances for Como. CaughtOffside report that that has left scouts from United impressed.

However, if they look to make a move in the summer window, they will have competition from Real Madrid who are reported to be keen to sign the youngster back. They have an advantage with an €8 million (£6.74m) buy-back clause in his contract.

It is said that Xabi Alonso, who has now been confirmed as the new Real Madrid boss, is a big fan of the player and is pushing to take him back to the Bernabau.

United could put a spanner in the works though, with it reported that Paz is not totally convinced about a move back to Real Madrid, due to be wanting to be assured of a regular first team place. He sturuggled for regular minutes in his first spell at the club.

This is where United can come in, if they match the buy-back clause available to Real Madrid, and assure the player of first team opportunities, then they could just taks the advantage in adny transfer race.

In fact, latest reports from Spain claim that Real Madrid are now walking away from the deal with the club happy with their midfield options following the arrival of Franco Mastantuono who is expected to join the club after the Club World Cup.

OK Diario also add that Paz himself has doubts about the move back to Real Madrid due to the previously mentioned lack of game time
