De Ligt had a solid first season at United but injuries ultimately did play a big role as Harry Maguire ended the season ahead of him in the pecking order.
Despite this, De Ligt speaks glowingly about Amorim, as he told the Inside United magazine what he noticed about the head coach after he joined.

“I didn’t meet him individually,” De Ligt explained. “I think in a group meeting was the first time. I could already see that he was a really honest and open man. It was interesting.”
Continuing, De Ligt also praised Amorim’s charisma.
“Yeah, his charisma. Also, the way he’s open and honest about things. He showed his idea, how we have to play, and how we want to play. These were actually the first days and weeks.”
De Ligt is a fan of Amorim’s style and will be hoping that he plays a big role next season in the back three for United

Amorim’s honesty has not only been with his players but also the fanbase, which has been refreshing in comparison to Erik ten Hag.
In his honesty, Amorim has been adamnant that he will stick to his guns with the 3-4-2-1 system, which suits his central defensive options which are plentiful.
