Chelsea torn over selling first team player who could be about to “level up”

Chelsea are selling off a slew of unwanted players this summer, and there are also first team players who could leave if you believe the rumours going around.

One of those is Noni Madueke, who continued to be linked away despite being a regular for Enzo Maresca.

They discussed his potential sale on the London is Blue podcast this week.

✨ @nickverlaney & Dan on interest in Noni Madueke from Newcastle & AC Milan, and if the Blues should sell if they receive a generous offer.

“On Noni Madueke, there just is interest apparently from Newcastle apparently about signing him, as well as AC Milan – AC Milan aren’t going to have the money to sign Madueke,” presenter Dan Dormer explained.

“If you were going to sell him, it would not feel super great to reinforce a [Champions League rival] side like Newcastle, who have continued to build in a very logical manner over the last couple of seasons. They have Champions League money to spend and consider. So if we were to do it [sell Madueke] we should not do it for anything less than at or above market value. He’s a Premier League proven player, has just completed one of his best attacking seasons. I’m not ready to see him go elsewhere. I’m ready to see him kind of kick on for another year, improve the level of competition in the squad and help him level up again.”

Chelsea face tough call over emerging winger

It’s a very tough one and we’re similarly divided. One the one hand, we’ve always had doubts about Madueke’s ceiling, and in 2 and a half years at the club he’s hardly come on leaps and bounds. This could be a nice moment to sell him off and look to upgrade.

On the other hand, there’s no denying he’s improving, and there’s the sense we could be set to sell him just before it all really clicks for him.
