Wolves and Southampton waiting for signal before transfer effort – Manager’s decision key

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Southampton are waiting for a sign from Lazio before making a concrete move for goalkeeper Christos Mandas.

That’s according to Il Messaggero, via La Lazio Siamo Noi, who say both sides have show ‘concrete interest’ in the 23-year-old.

They explain that Maurizio Sarri’s return as Lazio manager shuffles the cards somewhat and, resets the hierarchies at the club.

Mandas is one of those who could benefit. He earned the starting spot last season and has an excellent relationship with Sarri, so could be made his number one next season.

That decision is yet to be made as Sarri evaluates his squad, which means the likes of Wolves and Southampton will be forced to wait.

They’ve shown concrete interest in the goalkeeper according to Il Messaggero but are waiting for a signal from Formello before they ‘manifest themselves concretely’. In simpler terms, they want Lazio to let them know it’s worth making an effort to sign Mandas before they do so.

The belief is that Lazio would be open to a sale as the goalkeeper could net them a capital gain of at least €20m. That could be used by Sarri on hi squad this summer.

The returning Lazio manager has a decision to make first, though, leaving Southampton and Wolves waiting until he does.
