Leny Yoro shares his love for basketball, names two Man Utd stars who will be watching the NBA Finals

Leny Yoro may be one of the most exciting young defenders in world football, but he is also an avid follower of the NBA.

The football season is over, and, in most cases, it means a lot of footballers can relax and prepare themselves to compete again in the 2025/26 season.

Except for the likes of Bruno Fernandes, who have to represent their country and deal with less time to recharge.

Members of Manchester United’s first team will use that time to go on holiday, soak up the sun and enjoy time with friends and family.

Other players will use the time to follow their other interests, such as basketball with this year’s NBA Finals currently taking place.

Several United stars will be following the action as the NBA showcases itself on the biggest stage.

Leny Yoro loves the NBA

One player who deserves time off this summer is Leny Yoro.

The 19-year-old joined United from Lille after snubbing interest from Real Madrid last year.

Yoro won’t be on the move this summer and will have plenty of time to follow one of his favourite sports, along with football.

Speaking to MUTV about where the interest in basketball came from, Yoro revealed: “Honestly, I always liked the show of the NBA, the players, even the video games. This is something that I play a lot.”

Although Yoro didn’t play basketball very often during his youth, he recalls his interest in the sport growing at the age of 14.

“Not too much,” Yoro replied. “It came around when I was 14 years old that I started to have a little bit of interest in basketball.”

Thankfully, it doesn’t sound like United or France will be losing Yoro to basketball anytime soon, but it’s good to hear our players have other interests away from football to keep them occupied.

Yoro names Man Utd duo who enjoy basketball

Yoro is not the only United player who will be following the NBA Finals this summer.

In the same interview, the centre-back revealed that Kobbie Mainoo and Joshua Zirkzee are also fans of the sport.

Yoro said: “There’s Kobbie [Mainoo], Josh [Zirkzee] and a lot of players who watch basketball. It is a good sport for me.”

The former Lille star also pledged to take on Mainoo in a video game based on basketball having yet to do so.
