Kepa Arrizabalaga has a €6m release clause in his Chelsea contract, making him an option for Arsenal and AC Milan.
That’s according to AS, who report that Arsenal and Milan are ‘chasing’ the Chelsea goalkeeper after his loan spell at Bournemouth last season.
The newspaper reports that Kepa is seen as one of the biggest market opportunities this summer after his performances on loan at Bournemouth last season.
He has a year left on his contract at Chelsea but negotiated with the club for that to include a release clause when he last renewed his contract. He wanted an option to leave if he had interest from other clubs. The clause is worth €6m, or £5m.
And it is that figure which has led Mikel Arteta and Arsenal to make the Spanish goalkeeper the “preferred candidate” this summer. This has been reported in England.
They need an alternative to David Raya, having given up on signing Joan Garcia and allowed Neto to return to Bournemouth after a loan at the Emirates this season.
Kepa is an attractive option given his low release clause at Chelsea, although there is also interest from AC Milan, who could lose Mike Maignan to the Blues this summer.
