Leicester City 'make offer' for England international as selling club try to offload wages

Leicester City have reportedly made an offer for former England midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Claims in Turkey say City have moved for the 31-year-old, who currently plays for Besiktas.

The Turkish giants seem keen to get Oxlade-Chamberlain off their wage bill this summer, with a year remaining on his deal in Istanbul.

And Fotomac report that City have made an offer, following up on interest they supposedly had in January.

It seems unlikely City will be making offers for players at the moment, despite the transfer window being open, as they still need to figure out which direction the club is heading.

There are doubts over the future of manager Ruud van Nistelrooy and how secure they are over allowable losses set out in the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

They also need to work out which players are leaving this summer in order to determine the most important positions to strengthen.

It does seem likely that midfield will be one such area. Boubakary Soumare and Harry Winks only have one year left on their contracts, Wilfred Ndidi has a release clause, and Hamza Choudhury has reportedly been offered to Olympiacos.

Of the current senior options, there’s only Oliver Skipp who looks set to stay.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has been with Besiktas for two seasons since leaving Liverpool, this term playing under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Injury problems have prevented him from playing regularly, but he did enjoy a run of starts between February and May this season. He finished with 20 appearances across all competitions, scoring once.
