The New York Knicks are entering a crucial offseason following a frustrating playoff exit in the Eastern Conference Finals. New York reacted to this by firing long-time head coach Tom Thibodeau, sending the organization into a search for a new leader.

But New York has some big roster decisions to make as well. The team has plenty of talent on it, but it's not the most well-rounded.
This could see the Knicks make some drastic moves in search of building more of a title contender. But New York has been linked to multiple big-name players this offseason.
One of those is former league MVP Kevin Durant, who is expected to leave the Phoenix Suns this summer. And according to NBA insider Shams Charania, the Knicks and Durant have "mutual interest" with one another.
"On Kevin Durant I will say this: There was mutual interest between Kevin Durant and the Knicks at the trade deadline. The Knicks made an offer for KD", Charania mentioned.
Landing Durant would certainly change things for the Knicks. Durant would give them a legitimate co-star to guard Jalen Brunson, and it would take some of the load off Brunson in games.
Despite his advanced age, Durant was still one of the better scorers in the NBA last season. The veteran star averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.2 blocks, and 0.8 steals per game.

The Suns are looking for a way to move Durant, and the Knicks could be a solid trade partner. New York has the salary on the roster to match Durant in a deal, and some interesting pieces that Phoenix may want in return for him.
New York seems determined to go after a title, and adding Durant would surely help in that regard. The Knicks wanted Durant years ago, so this could be a full-circle type of moment if it were to come true.
It remains to be seen where Durant will end up, but his time in Phoenix is fading. New York would be a solid fit, and the Knicks would instantly be seen as one of the favorites to win the title next season.
