Tennessee Titans: Ink Versatile Receiver to 4-Year Deal

The Tennessee Titans needed to address the wide receiver position heading into the draft because they needed to find a WR3 who could line up on the outside and address concerns with their depth. Treylon Burks has struggled to stay healthy over the past three seasons, Van Jefferson faces a downward career trajectory, and Tyler Lockett is a short-term fix. The Titans also needed to add a receiver for the long term since most players’ contracts expire before then.

The front office added two receivers in the draft, including a versatile one.

The Tennessee Titans drafted former Wisconsin Badger and Florida Gator Chimere Dike 103rd overall in the fourth round. He is a versatile wide receiver because of his ability to play all three receiver positions, including X, Z, and in the slot. Dike will compete for the WR3 position, the lead backup, and the return specialist job.

After spending the first four years of college with the Wisconsin Badgers, Chimere Dike transferred to the Florida Gators for the 2024 season. He had a breakout senior year, boasting career highs in receiving yards, hauling 42 receptions for 783 yards and two touchdowns in 13 games. Dike also had 14 punt returns for 187 yards.

“Niche receiver with average hands but good early speed to bypass man coverage and give life to the vertical game. Dike is a second- and third-level receiver whose routes have the energy of a youngster on a playground with all gas and no brakes. He is an early separator with his speed but won’t see nearly as many free or schemed releases as he saw at Florida.

“He catches with downfield focus and good toughness when contested but doesn’t always play with catch-ready hands, which will lead to frustrating misses. He’s more of a field-stretcher than a volume option, but his talent for opening intermediate and deep windows could appeal to teams in need of speed.”

He predicts that he will become an above-average backup.
