There could be a new look to Man City when they kickstart their Club World Cup campaign later this month against Wydad AC. The Blues are looking to rebuild their side after a trophyless season and hope to have most of their new recruits in place before the revamped club competition.
City could earn as much as £97 million from their participation in the tournament, with each group stage win worth £1.5 million in prize money and an extra £5.8 million just for reaching the last 16. Those who reach the quarter-finals get £10.2 million, £16.3 million is given to the semi-finalist and the winner will be handed a further £31 million in prize money.
It means there is huge incentive for City to try and win the competition and extra purpose to get their new signings in place before the competition begins.
