Analyst Names ‘Best Five-Tool Safeties’ In NFL

The New York Giants are going to be an interesting team to watch during the 2025 NFL season as they have a talented defense but a questionable offense.

The Giants looked to shore up their quarterback issue by signing free agents Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston and trading back into the first round to select Jaxson Dart in the 2025 NFL Draft.

New York’s offense was stagnant outside of wide receiver Malik Nabers last season, so it is hoping one of those QBs pans out as the starter.

Meanwhile, the defense was a bright spot, and it was given even more talent this offseason when the Giants signed free agent safety Jevon Holland.

NFL Films analyst Greg Cosell recently praised Holland and Pittsburgh Steelers star Minkah Fitzpatrick as the best in the league at their position.

“Jevon Holland at his best is what we call a five-tool safety,” Cosell said. “… You can make the argument that the two best five-tool safeties in the NFL, when they’re at their best, are Jevon Holland and Minkah Fitzpatrick.”

Holland was selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins, and he arguably has yet to make the impact he was initially expected to.

Meanwhile, Fitzpatrick has consistently graded out as one of the best defensive players in the league thanks to his ball-hawking skills and field awareness.

Holland and Fitzpatrick are natural playmakers in the secondary, and the Giants and Steelers should feel fortunate to have them.
