Wolves star breaks silence on‘tough’Matheus Cunha exit and tells Man Utd about two key attributes

One Wolves player has broken his silence on the ‘tough’ exit of Matheus Cunha and explained two things he’ll bring to the table at Manchester United.

Manchester United announced the arrival of Matheus Cunha from Wolves last week on a five-year contract worth £62.5 million.

The 26-year-old Brazilian forward is the first signing under Ruben Amorim, marking an early statement of intent as the club looks to rebuild ahead of the new season.

Cunha is seen as a vital reinforcement for United’s misfiring attack and is expected to inject renewed energy and quality into the frontline.

He scored 15 goals for Wolves in the Premier League last season as he guided them away from a relegation fight and his former club are going to miss him greatly heading into the new campaign.

Wolves star breaks silence on Cunha exit

Wolves star Marshall Munetsi has been speaking about the departure of Cunha this week and admitted that they have to ‘evolve’ without the Brazilian international.

He also highlights that Cunha will be able to offer United ‘creativity and energy’ next season under Amorim, which are two things that have been missing at Old Trafford.

“We need depth, no question,” said Munetsi in an interview with SportsBoom when discussing the transfer and how Wolves need to react.

“Losing players like Cunha will be tough; he brings creativity and energy. But Wolves can’t rely on one or two players.

“The system has to evolve, and everyone has to raise their game. Recruitment will be key. But more than that, our mindset has to shift; from survival to competing.”

Cunha will ease creative burden on Fernandes

United have often relied on Bruno Fernandes for their creative spark, which does often work but when the Portuguese international is having an off-day, there’s no one to pick up the slack.

That’s exactly what happened during the Europa League final. No other player managed to step up while Fernandes was struggling and someone like Cunha is expected to ease the burden on the captain.

He doesn’t create in the exact same way with incredible passes that no one else can see, but instead with his powerful running and linkup.

Similarly, someone like Bryan Mbeumo joining will be another step in United having threats in different areas of the pitch which is what has been needed for a while.
