Liverpool have been somewhat busy since the 2025-26 summer transfer window opened at the start of June.
The Anfield outfit have already confirmed the arrival of Jeremie Frimpong and are now entering the final stages of their deal to bring Florian Wirtz to Merseyside.
Alongside these two additions, Arne Slot’s men have been linked with a number of new strikers due to the interest being shown in the likes of Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz from Saudi Pro League clubs.

Hugo Ekitike and Benjamin Sesko are the two names that are cropping up the most, but there’s actually an even better option out there that Liverpool could pursue.
Viktor Gyokeres should be Liverpool’s striker target this summer
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, Viktor Gyokeres’ name is one that you’ll have heard plenty about.
The Sweden international currently plies his trade for Sporting and is one of the most sought-after strikers in world football.
In fact, back in February, Nico Kovac even called the striker “fantastic” after the development he’s shown this term.
At the moment, Manchester United are the ones leading the race, but the fact that he’s available for the bargain price of £60million is more than enough of a reason for Slot to at least throw Liverpool’s hat into the ring.

Other Premier League clubs, such as Arsenal, have also made their interest in the striker known, but if the Champions of England entered the race, it feels like he’d have to choose them.
Why Viktor Gyokeres would be a perfect fit for Liverpool
If Liverpool end up getting rid of Diaz or Nunez throughout the summer, the money generated from their sales alone would likely be enough to fund a move for the Swede.
The talisman has been in fine form this season as he’s managed to contribute to a total of 67 goals this season, with Gyokeres managing to net 53 of them himself.

The 2024-25 season of Viktor Gyokeres in numbers.
Gyokeres is an out-and-out striker, which is exactly what Liverpool need to take their attack to the next level.
Indeed, the striker is 27 years old, but with the numbers Mohamed Salah was putting in this season at the age of 32, it feels like he’ll still have plenty of gas left in the tank to perform to the highest standards possible.
Each of these factors, coupled with his experience of English football with Coventry, makes Gyokeres seem like the perfect striker for Slot to target.
Ekitike would also be an interesting player for Liverpool to look into, but with the massive price tag slapped upon his head, a move feels unlikely.
Only time will tell what the future holds, but £60m for a player who contributed to 67 goals for Sporting last season feels like a no-brainer.
