Victor Osimhen has reportedly accepted Al Hilal’s bid, closer to leaving Napoli to join the Saudi Pro League side. The Nigerian striker is set to undergo a medical in Paris as Al-Hilal seek to close the deal prior to the FIFA Club World Cup on June 15.
Al-Hilal reportedly signed a contract with Osimhen, signing a contract until 2029 of a net annual salary of between €30 million and €35 million. This will see him emerge as one of the highest-paid footballers on the planet. The club made Napoli an offer of €70 million, which is nearly the €75 million release clause being insisted upon by the Italian club.
Chelsea were also pursuing Osimhen but negotiations collapsed because of his wage demands. The Premier League side have focused on other targets, such as Liam Delap, for whom a £30m move was agreed on.
Former Blues star John Obi Mikel was upset about the club’s inability to sign Osimhen at the best possible moment. The striker’s move will round out Hilal’s attack as the team are about to engage in the Club World Cup, where they will face the world’s best clubs. The transfer is expected in the next couple of days, subject to the medical and confirmation with Napoli.
Chelsea Have Completed Liam Delap Signing
Chelsea have completed the signing of Ipswich Town forward Liam Delap on a six-year contract worth £30m. The 22-year-old attacker, who bagged 12 Premier League goals last season.
The transfer places Delap in company with former boss Enzo Maresca, whom he played for at Manchester City. Delap was over the moon about the transfer, saying:
“I understand the stature of this club and can see the trajectory it is on with these players and the head coach. It’s going to be an incredible place for me to develop, and I hope to achieve amazing things here and help the club win more trophies.”
Delap will be wearing the number 9 jersey at Stamford Bridge and will also be included in Chelsea’s Club World tour.
