Chelsea have a versatile Dutch player on their radar this summer. They have retained the interest in him despite interest from other top clubs. In England, they are joined by Liverpool in race.
Chelsea are keen to improve their current squad even further. They have defensive signings as top priority. Firstly, they will part ways with all Chalobah, Disasi and Veiga who were on loan for half season each in the 2024/25 season.
The Blues are also said to part ways with Badiashile for right offer. Lastly, they are worried about the injury issues of Fofana. Hence, they may also opt to move on from him. This means there will be multiple new signings at the backline.
Chelsea retain interest in young Dutch defender
The Blues are keen to add more young players to their squad. Earlier, they were keen to sign Dean Huijsen but have lost the race for him. Hence, the West London club have now shifted their target to Dutch star. The player in question is Jorrel Hato who plays for Ajax.
According to Ben Jacobs, Chelsea are still keen to sign Hato. They view the Dutch star as important target due to his ability to play as both centre-back and left-back. Lastly, Jacobs also added that the Blues will not make any moves for Jarrad Branthwaite despite the rumours.
Hato is also wanted by Liverpool. The Red have extended the contract of Virgil van Dijk. But, it is short term and the Dutch captain needs replacement soon. In addition, Robertson also needs covering on the left side of defence. Lastly, there are doubts about future of Konate whereas Quansah has failed to impress.
Hato is a promising talent who has proved himself on multiple occasions. Despite his young age, he has been regular starter for Ajax. He has recently broke into Netherlands national team and has also been a regular member for them.
