Ipswich boxer Jack Williams thanks the Portman Road crowd for their vocal support after his victory against Fernando Joaquin Valdez tonight.

Williams, 29, was awarded a points victory over the Argentine following an entertaining four-round Super Bantamweight fight.

Having been roared on by a partisan crowd, he said: ""It was a great atmosphere and it got to me a little bit.

"I can't really speak. It's absolutely crazy. This was next level for me.

"My hand went in the first round. I hit him on the top of his dome, I thought he was a gonner, but he's a tough cookie and he kept coming.

"I thought I was going to get him out of there. In the last round, he was going, but I was hesitating to throw that right hand. I still got the job done though and I'm pleased with the performance."

Williams has 'mum' emblazoned on his shorts in memory of his late mum Sarah.

"You see me pray when I go out. I do this for her," he said. "These fights are not for me or my brother, it's all for her. She was a big supporter in my boxing career, every fight is for her and this one was a big one."

Asked what's next for him, Williams replied: "I'm going to go and enjoy a Five Guys! That's all that's on my mind. I've been in camp for 11 weeks and I'm drained! I just want to celebrate with my family.

"I'll go back down to Super Flyweight now. I came on at 120 for this fight and he came in at 126. I'll be back out in September/October time."
