Man Utd fans have a lot to say about Chido Obi after first goal for Denmark U20, he‘has the minerals’

Several Manchester United players are currently on international duty, including Chido Obi.

The 17-year-old striker has spent the past week with Denmark’s U20 side, where he is the youngest player by some margin.

Chido Obi made his Denmark U20 debut against Mexico earlier this week in a 3-3 draw, assisting and earning plenty of plaudits in the process.

This saw Obi continue the hot form he showed over in Asia with Manchester United during the post-season tour.

Obi scored twice for United against Hong Kong, stealing the show and raising serious questions around whether he is better than Inter Milan-linked Rasmus Hojlund.

Now, Obi has been in action once again for Denmark’s U20 side, and this time has been amongst the goals.

Manchester United fans rave over Chido Obi after goal for Denmark U20

It was game two in the Maurice Revello Tournament for Denmark, and this one ended much better for Obi and his team, beating Congo 2-0.

Obi was introduced from the bench in the second half, and he scored in the 95th minute to wrap up the win over the African side. The strike was from outside the box, and while the goalkeeper was poor it was still a strong finish.

Reacting to the goal, one fan wrote: “He has the minerals. He just needs patience and proper game time management.”

A second fan agreed, adding: “Obi’s strike- pure class!!! Future star rising!!” Meanwhile, another wrote: “Obi’s brilliance- Denmark’s future looks bright!!”

Some fans have been suggesting Obi has now surpassed Hojlund: “Sell Hojlund. Let this guy Obi be Gyokeres’ assistant”, while another then added Obi is “better than any of the strikers currently on Denmark”.

One fan couldn’t help but remark that Obi reminded him of Victor Osimhen: “Has that Osimhen vibe at his young age.”

Chido Obi will be competing for Manchester United’s starting striker role sooner rather than later

Obi’s breakthrough as a reliable senior goalscorer for both United and Denmark appears imminent as he continues to impress at whatever level he is given a chance.

Due to this, whoever United signs this summer to lead the line will soon have competition from the teenage sensation.

United want to sign Viktor Gyokeres as a star number nine, which would be perfect for Obi to learn under over the coming seasons.

Meanwhile, United are also keen on Jean-Philippe Mateta, who would be cheaper and more proven in the Premier League than the Swede.

It is exciting to consider how good Obi will be in the coming years, as he remains far from the finished article.
