The Pittsburgh Steelers’ contract with Aaron Rodgers has been revealed. Rodgers’ deal will be a one-year contract.
For Rodgers, the base salary of the deal will be $13.65 million with $10 million guaranteed. At the very least, that means his cap charge will equal the base salary, but it could be even higher.
Rodgers will have $5.85 million in incentives he could earn through playing time and team success marks. It is unknown how likely those marks will be hit for Rodgers, but the signal-caller’s high point of the contract is $19.5 million, which would drive up his cap hit.
That is not too dissimilar to Russell Wilson’s contract with the New York Giants, though Wilson has a maximum value north of $20 million with a guaranteed salary of $10.5 million.
Rodgers noted back in April on the Pat McAfee Show that he would play for $10 million, and that is what he gets in a guaranteed salary.
“It ain’t about the money,” Rodgers said on The Pat McAfee Show. “I’ll play for $10 million. I don’t care. I never once said I needed a multi-year deal.”
Rodgers had 28 touchdowns to 11 interceptions in 2024. He went just 5-12 in his starts with the Jets, and even after they acquired All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams, went just 3-8. It was a tough season for Rodgers, who also had multiple leg injuries.
The Steelers think something remains in the tank for the former four-time MVP. They zeroed in on him as their target, as a result, especially after missing on re-signing Justin Fields.
Now, Rodgers will be with the Steelers on a deal that will not break the bank, and could still land them another wide receiver to help Rodgers.
