The woman, identified as Cody Morris, was traveling on a motorcycle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Plano Police Department said they then received a call from Joseph at 5:39 a.m., who said he had been involved in a crash. Police said after contacting Joseph they determined that he was driving in the northbound lane of U.S. Highway 75 when his BMW was involved in a collision with the motorcycle.
Police said they “observed signs of intoxication” when they spoke with Joseph, and he was arrested and charged with DWI and collision involving personal injury or death. WFAA said Joseph was in the Richardson City Jail on Saturday and bail had not been set.
The site said U.S. Highway 75 was shut down for three hours.
Joseph was cleared in a murder investigation back in 2022.
He was questioned following a shooting death outside of the OT Tavern Bar and Grill in Lower Greenville.
Joseph is currently with the DC Defenders of the United Football League. The Defenders were slated to play the St. Louis Battlehawks on Sunday for the XFL Conference title.
Joseph was taken by the Cowboys in the second round of the 2021 draft and played for the team for two seasons. He also had stints with the Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks, Kansas City Chiefs, Indianapolis Colts and Minnesota Vikings.
