“Includes Liverpool or Chelsea” – Former Goalkeeper Names Clubs Jack Grealish Could Join

Former goalkeeper Shay Given has wholeheartedly supported Jack Grealish, stating that the Manchester City sensation would walk into Liverpool and Chelsea. The former Newcastle and City goalkeeper praised Grealish and asserted that the 29-year-old has much more to contribute at the top level.

This is despite being given limited minutes under Pep Guardiola during the last season. Grealish’s future at the Etihad is now up in the air. Having played a key role in City’s title charge, he has further slipped to the fringes. Given explained to the Metro:

“I think Jack has been a generational talent, I really do. I think Jack can play for every single team in the country. I remember not so long ago he was playing a central role for England when they played Ireland last year, he was the star man, he was phenomenal that day.

He is only 29, he still has three or four brilliant years ahead of him at the top. Having not played recently, he will be really hungry to go out there and show how good he is.”

The former goalkeeper continued:

“I wouldn’t want to name clubs but at the same time I think he walks into any team in the country, that even includes Liverpool or Chelsea or anyone. I think he just needs to be given a batch of games to show how good he is back in that central position and not out wide.”

Would Chelsea or Liverpool Want Grealish?

Though Given talks as if it’s the norm, any such move to Chelsea or Liverpool won’t be straightforward. Grealish at Liverpool would have brutally high-level competition from players like Curtis Jones, Mohamed Salah, and Cody Gakpo.

Chelsea, in their present formation, have opted for young, long-term players. It is uncertain that they they would prefer to have a 29-year-old high earner. But with Grealish already under consideration at Tottenham and Napoli, there is hope of new opportunities come the summer window.
