All of the focus on Liverpool's transfer business at the moment is on arrivals, with Jeremie Frimpong and young goalkeeper Armin Pecsi already through the door, and deals being worked on for Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez.
But there will also be plenty of outgoings, and Darwin Nunez is likely to be the most valuable departure of all, with Liverpool expecting there to be a strong market for the Uruguayan after rejecting interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia during the January transfer window.
The Reds are likely to let Nunez leave this summer after three underwhelming seasons with the club. After tallying double figures for goals in his first two campaigns at Anfield, Nunez scored just seven goals in all competitions under Arne Slot, having lined up just eight times in the Premier League in 2024-25.
Atletico Madrid is the club in Europe that has seemingly been most heavily linked with Nunez, while there is said to still be interest from Saudi Arabia.
One club which isn't likely to be in the race to sign Nunez, is Arsenal; a year on from a wild rumor that Mikel Arteta was keen on Nunez, the Gunners are being linked with the likes of Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres this time around.
Last August, an X account started a rumor that Liverpool might sell Nunez to Arsenal ahead of the closure of the transfer window.
The X account in question had previously shared a nugget of news suggesting that Curtis Jones could have been on his way to the Emirates, so that was warning enough that the story about Nunez possibly joining Arsenal should be taken with a pinch of salt.
The reality, at the time, was that Liverpool had no intention of selling Nunez during Slot's first summer in charge.

A year on, that has changed, and the Uruguayan is likely to depart this summer. The Athletic's David Ornstein delivered an update on Nunez in a new podcast, saying: “The future of Darwin Nunez has been well-documented.
“There's an opportunity for him to leave. I think the expectation is that he will be sold and, therefore, we could see somebody come in in that position.
“I think Liverpool are among those, understandably, that have liked Alexander Isak. There's admiration for somebody like Hugo Ekitike.
“And decisions will have to be made, and I'm sure that's something Liverpool are thinking about, and will have multiple options, no doubt, if and when that situation develops.”
