Liverpool's next transfer after Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong decided

Kerkez added fuel to the fire that he could complete a £45m switch to Anfield after pulling out of Hungary’s squad for their upcoming internationals. A statement was released claiming that he left the camp due to “private reasons.”

Three new faces could be in place before pre-season if sporting director Richard Hughes can get Wirtz and Kerkez over the line to join Frimpong.

And Express Sport readers have had their say over who Liverpool should target in the months to follow.

When asked for their recommendation on Liverpool’s next signing, a whopping 34 per cent of those polled suggested Alexander Isak. The Newcastle striker is in talks over a new contract at St James’ Park but has proven to be one of the Premier League’s top strikers.

An attack consisting of Isak, Wirtz and Mohamed Salah would certainly be a problem for the rest of the division and put the Reds in pole position to retain their title.

Three other strikers were brought up, with readers split on Hugo Ekitike (19 per cent) and Julian Alvaraz (17 per cent), though both strikers would likely cost less than the nine-figure fee Isak would fetch.

However, it was made clear that Manchester United and Arsenal target Viktor Gyokeres should not be pursued, with only four per cent of readers of the opinion that the Swede needs to be brought in.

One-fifth of readers think that attention should be turned to defence and Ajax star Jorrel Hato specifically. The 19-year-old was spotted at Anfield in January, but that was considered a trip to watch his fellow Dutch stars in action.

He could be viewed as a long-term replacement for Virgil van Dijk, with the potential to play in other areas, having been utilised in midfield at at left-back in the Netherlands.

While just six per cent of readers think that Liverpool’s next signing should be Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller, with the club well-stocked through Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo at the base of midfield.
