Leeds United have kicked off talks with Dan James ahead of the summer.
The Whites are preparing for a busy transfer window after earning promotion to the Premier League with a Championship title win.
If Daniel Farke wants to avoid relegation, he is going to need a squad built better than any of the prior six sides who faced an instant drop back to the second tier.
With that in mind, talks have begun with James at Elland Road as the Yorkshire club’s seasonal business looks set to begin.

As a result, there would be little surprise if other outfits showcased an interest in the former Manchester United ace coming into the transfer window.
In order to protect themselves from any potential loss, the Whites now look to open negotiations over a new deal for the Welshman.
This has seen the Sun on Sunday report (8 June, page 59) that Leeds are in talks with James and plan to offer him a new two-year deal at Elland Road.
With the winger out of contract at the end of the upcoming campaign, a new deal makes sense ahead of a move into the top flight.

It would certainly be a positive thing to tie down the ex-Fulham loanee to a new contract, ready for a return to the Premier League.
The LS11 club will be desperate to build a competitive squad, so keeping hold of key players is of paramount importance.
This will especially be the case in forward areas with Manor Solomon returning to Tottenham at the end of his loan spell in the second tier.
If the Israel international isn’t to return, Farke will be desperate to keep hold of James to help score goals and feed the likes of Joel Piroe or any new forward options.
