Chelsea pushing to seal three transfers before Club World Cup next week - Reports

close

Chelsea are planning to sign three new players before the FIFA Club World Cup kicks off on June 14, according to The Express. The Blues are in Group D in the refurbished tournament, along with ES Tunis, Flamengo, and Leon.

The London giants arrive at the Club World Cup buoyed by their Europa Conference League triumph last month. Chelsea have already added Liam Delap to their attacking arsenal, but remain keen for more additions.

The Premier League giants have apparently set their sights on Borussia Dortmund's Jamie Gittens and want to complete the deal soon. Acclaimed journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Blues have already submitted their opening offer of £29.5m, but it has been rejected.

However, the London giants are likely to return with an improved offer. According to RMC Sport, the player has already agreed personal terms on a seven-year deal, but the two clubs remain in contact to chalk out a deal.

Meanwhile, TEAMtalk report that Chelsea also want a new goalkeeper this summer and have their eyes on Mike Maignan. The Frenchman is keen to leave AC Milan and has already agreed personal terms with the Blues.

The Stamford Bridge hierarchy also have Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike on their wish list, as per BILD, and they want him before the Club World Cup as well. However, the Bundesliga club reportedly want £84.3m to let him go, while the London giants won't go beyond £67.4m.

Are Chelsea interested in Ousmane Diomande?

Ousmane Diomande

Chelsea could be locked in a battle with Arsenal for the services of Ousmane Diomande this summer, according to CaughtOffside. The Telegraph add that Crystal Palace are in the race for the Ivorian defender as well.

Diomande has been a rock at the back for Sporting CP in recent years and has earned admirers in the Premier League. The 21-year-old is under contract until 2027, and the Portuguese club are open to his departure this summer.

However, Sporting CP apparently want £67m to let him go, which could pose a problem for Crystal Palace. The Eagles, though, could raise funds by offloading Marc Guehi this summer.

Chelsea, however, have no shortage of funds and could pose a threat to Crystal Palace's plans. The Blues have invested heavily in younger talents of late, and Diomande suits their strategy. The Ivorian could also be an upgrade on the likes of Trevoh Chalobah and Benoit Badiashile at Stamford Bridge.

His writing prowess has even led his work getting cited on the legendary Franz Beckenbauer's Wikipedia page.

Inspired by Diego Maradona, Deepungsu played as an attacking midfielder for his local club at subdivision level in his initial years and scored an important goal or two. However, his all-time favorite footballer is Lionel Messi, and evidently, he feels Argentina's glory in 2022 is his favorite FIFA World Cup moment for fulfilling his long-standing dream. He is also an ardent East Bengal fan.

Deepungsu has been a Manchester United supporter since the year 2000. Unsurprisingly, his favorite manager is Sir Alex Ferguson and the Scotsman helped him get through some of the toughest days of his life. Like the fiery Scot, Deepungsu also leaves no stone unturned when it comes to accuracy in articles and only relies on credible sources.

Despite believing in Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland to create an iconic rivalry, Deepungsu reckons no one can match the longevity of Messi and Ronaldo. He spends his leisure time writing about life on his blog, reading books, and playing the guitar.
