[The midfielder has reportedly axed his agent](https://www.barcablaugranes.com/2025/6/7/24444811/frenkie-de-jong-wants-to-axe-his-agent-in-bid-to-speed-up-barcelona-renewal) in a bid to speed up the process and spoke about his future after playing for the Netherlands on Saturday night.
“No idea when it will happen,” he told Voetbal International.
“But I would like to stay and the club wants that too, so you will normally find a solution.”
De Jong also says he’s looking forward to a holiday soon and is glad the team aren’t playing in the Club World Cup.
“Fortunately, we are not playing the World Cup for club teams, because that is an extra burden for players,” he added.
“I also think it is a tournament that is not really alive. It was also a busy year for me, in which I started to feel fitter after the winter break, exactly as the specialists had predicted.”
De Jong and the Netherlands play again on Tuesday against Malta in World Cup qualifying. The midfielder will then be granted a break and some well deserved time off.
