Everton could look at Sheffield United ready for the upcoming transfer window.

The Toffees are preparing for a summer of change as David Moyes looks to maintain his side’s progress after the first six months back on Merseyside.

This is likely to see a busy few months in the market, while attentions are turned to the Hill Dickinson Stadium move.

As a move from L4 to L5 remains in the pipeline, transfer business looks set to kick off with the signing of an up and coming goalkeeper option.

Everton eye Jordan Pickford alternative at Sheffield United

There is no doubt that, unless something crazy happens in the coming weeks, Jordan Pickford will come into the season as number one again for the Blues.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

This comes after a superb eight-year spell in goal at Goodison in which the 31-year-old has barely put a foot wrong.

The England international is up there with one of the most consistent keepers in the entire Premier League and has played a key role under Moyes so far.

With that being said, a new keeper option could now be targeted by the Scot after Alan Nixon reported via his Patreon (8 June) interest in Sheffield United keeper Mike Cooper.

The 25-year-old was a standout shot stopper in the Championship last season and would make for a superb signing for the Toffees.

This would see the Blades star come in as a number two to Pickford as the Merseyside outfit looks to bring in a new number two after the departures of Joao Virginia and Asmir Begovic.

Chris Wilder’s side are in no rush to sell their number one despite missing out on promotion, while the ex-Plymouth Argyle man wouldn’t be keen on being benched at this stage of his development.

Everton to make Cooper swoop at Sheffield United

There will be a desperate need for a new number two at the Hill Dickinson moving into the new campaign of Premier League action.

The issue comes when looking for a player who is going to be happy being a spectator to Pickford for large spells of the season.

Given that the ex-Sunderland man kept 12 clean sheets last time out, it would be unfair and totally bizarre to drop him from the side any time soon.

As a result, a bench option is needed on Merseyside, giving Angus Kinnear a direction to go in, ready for the opening stages of the window.

Cooper could prove to be a perfect option given his potential and already apparent ability, although his desire to be a number one could have a negative impact on a deal being done.
