Alisson Becker has expressed his confidence that Liverpool will opt to extend his contract by an additional year, with aspirations of eventually returning to his boyhood club Internacional. While the Reds are set to undergo several changes in the goalkeeping ranks this summer, discussions regarding his future will be earmarked for another time.
As a two-time Premier League champion, Alisson has cemented his place as one of Liverpool's indispensable figures and among the elite keepers globally during his seven-year stint on Merseyside. In 2021, he showed his loyalty by penning a contract until 2026, and it's been made apparent that the Anfield hierarchy has the option to prolong his tenure by another year.
At 35 years old by then, Alisson shared at a press conference prior to Brazil's 2026 World Cup qualifier against Peru that he believes this extension will indeed be activated.
"I've never been able to plan long term. Obviously now I have one year left on my contract and another year of club option, which they will probably exercize," Alisson remarked.
Nevertheless, he emphasized that his current priority is helping Brazil clinch a spot in the upcoming World Cup, hence any thoughts on his Liverpool future are not immediate concerns.
"It's a decisive moment in my career, with a World Cup coming up. I want to be very focused, I don't want anything external to get in the way of that."

The 32-year-old was also asked if he might emulate Neymar Jr, Thiago Silva, and ex-Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho, who all recently went back to play in their native Brazil.
Alisson said: "I talk to athletes who have made this move to return, some have had good experiences, others not.
"Each one will have their own experience, but I want to return, especially to Inter. I don't know when it will happen, but I still want to do it at a high level. That's what I have planned."
Having been developed by Internacional of the Brazilian Serie A from age 10 and making his first-team debut at 20, Alisson clocked up 101 games before his transfer to AS Roma.
