Double striker miss for United

Manchester United face the prospect of missing out on Victor Osimhen and Moise Kean as they look to land a new striker this summer, but still face several hurdles.

Adding more firepower is a priority for Ruben Amorim, who has not been able to rely on Joshua Zirkzee or Rasmus Hojlund - who is on Inter Milan's radar. Osimhen has previously been linked with a switch to the Premier League and continued to score goals for Galatasaray last year.

He moved to Turkey on loan with Napoli deeming him surplus to requirements. An exit from the Italian champions is expected and after rejecting Al-Hilal a move back to Turkish soil with Galatasaray had been seen as his likely destination - only for Osimhen to seemingly now decide he WILL take the Saudi money after all.

It appears as if Kean, now at Fiorentina, also has reservations over a possible move to Manchester. Despite his future in Florence being unclear he's not sold on the idea of heading to United after proving himself with 25 goals last term.

There is a release clause in his contract which means he could head elsewhere for €52million (£43.8m), but Fiorentina are in negotiations to retain him.

Meunier would love Man Utd move

Thomas Meunier has admitted he would have loved to make a move to Manchester United. The Lille full-back, 33, has revealed he would quickly accept a transfer to the club if it was on the table.

The Belgian international, who has one year remaining on his contract, also appears to accept that any chance of a deal is now gone however.

Meunier told Gazet van Antwerpen: “If they ever ask me, I’ll cycle there [United]. But maybe it’s better this way. Suppose I play there and have a bad time. I wouldn’t want to hate Manchester United, because I love that club so much.

“I went to watch them a few weeks ago, against Bilbao. In with the fans, singing fully. I am a real one. I go to watch them at least once every season.

"But of all the home games I’ve seen in all those years, they’ve only won two. You have to have a self-cruelty side to be a United supporter, right?"

Stoke land Wales international

Wales winger Sorba Thomas has joined Stoke on a three-year contract.

The 26-year-old arrives at the Potters from Huddersfield where he provided 29 assists and scored seven goals in 112 Championship starts. A Terriers statement revealed that Thomas had joined Stoke for a “significant undisclosed fee”.

Thomas spent last season on loan with Ligue 1 outfit Nantes and has played a key part for Wales since making his senior debut in 2021, including creating two goals in their 3-1 win over Kazakhstan in March.

Stoke sporting director Jon Walters told the club website: “Sorba is a player we have admired for some time and someone whose services are very much in demand, so we are delighted to welcome him as our first summer signing.

“He’s got a strong physical profile, works tirelessly out of possession and technically he brings real quality, especially with his delivery into the box, which is a standout part of his game.

“James Rowberry has worked with him closely in the Wales setup, so we know exactly what he’ll bring on and off the pitch.

“At 26, with Championship and international experience behind him, we believe there’s more to come with us at Stoke City.”
