Chelsea and Arsenal chasing£85 million striker

Europa Conference League champions Chelsea will aim to add the FIFA Club World Cup to their trophy cabinet later this month.

The Blues lifted the trophy back in 2021 under Thomas Tuchel, but the tournament has since been expanded to include 32 teams from across the globe.

Enzo Maresca’s side will face MLS outfit LAFC, Brazilian side Flamengo and Tunisian club ES Tunis in the group stage of the competition, which is taking place in the United States.

Striker Liam Delap could make his debut for Chelsea at the Club World Cup, having completed a move from relegated Ipswich Town earlier this month.

Despite landing the Englishman, it appears that the West London side are still on the hunt for further additions to Maresca’s squad.

According to CaughtOffside, both Chelsea and Arsenal are interested in Porto and Spain forward Samu Aghehowa.

The 21-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge last summer while playing for Atletico Madrid, but he ultimately moved to Porto.

Since then he has netted 25 times in 42 games for the Portuguese side during a hugely impressive debut season with the club, and it appears that his form has attracted interest from elsewhere.

Fellow Premier League sides Aston Villa, Manchester United and West Ham are all also said to be monitoring the Spaniard’s situation.

Aghehowa has a release clause of around £85 million in his current contract with Porto, which is set to expire in 2029, but the report claims that the Portuguese giants value the striker at around £50 million.

The Spain international never made a senior appearance for Atletico during his time in the Spanish capital, but did impress during a loan spell with fellow Spanish side Alaves.
