Packers News: Jordan Love Recalls How Aaron Rodgers Used to Be in His Situation Before 2008 and …

Aaron Rodgers is for sure a legend in the NFL with all the individual and team accolades but he started somewhere low, too. That’s what Jordan Love points to as among the things they used to bond during their short time together with the Green Bay Packers.

Rodgers was drafted 24th overall by the Packers in 2005 but he did not get the QB1 role until Brett Favre left the team in 2008 after he was traded to the New York Jets.

Love said such moment in A-Rod’s life is an inspiration as he, too, has to wait for his chance.

“I appreciate definitely the way A-Rod handled being in that situation, and I think a big part of it — which he told me — was he knew how it was for him being in that same position, and the things that he went through and the way the situation might’ve been handled [differently],” Love said during an interview with Channel 3000+ News.

“I think his perspective was, ‘I’m trying to go about this a little bit differently,’ which I think was awesome.”

The interview came a day after Rodgers signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers for his 20th season.

What Aaron Rodgers left Jordan Love

Love is regarded as among the best young quarterbacks now and he has Rodgers to thank for that. He has been saying that since 2022.

In the same interview, Love recalled how composed and focused A-Rod was in helping him take over.

“In my time with A-Rod, we had a great relationship,” he said.

“It was awesome being in the same room with him, being able to learn. He was amazing with everything. And I definitely appreciate the way he handled everything on the outside with obviously him leaving and me taking over, and he’s been very supportive of me [since].”

“It definitely helped with some of the negativity that might’ve come with that. But A-Rod handled it like a pro and did very right by me.”

Now, it is time for Love to show what he has become as the Packers and A-Rod’s Steelers will meet on Week 8 of the 2025 season.
