Former Arsenal and Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey is attracting interest from Mexican club Pumas UNAM, as uncertainty continues to surround his future at Cardiff City.
The 34-year-old took interim charge of Cardiff City for the final three matches of the Championship season, following the departure of Erol Bulut. However, two draws and a defeat under Ramsey’s watch saw the Bluebirds relegated to League One, and the club has yet to make a decision on whether to offer him the managerial role on a permanent basis.
Ramsey’s playing contract with Cardiff expires at the end of June, and his next move remains unclear. Cardiff’s hopes of appointing Nathan Jones as manager were dashed on Friday when the Welshman signed a new deal with Charlton Athletic.

Ramsey began his career at Cardiff before joining Arsenal in 2008 for just under £5 million. He made over 350 appearances for the Gunners, winning three FA Cups.

Now, Ramsey could be set for a surprising return to playing in Mexico’s Liga MX with Guadalajara-based Pumas. According to Mexican TV reporter Andrés Vaca, the club is seriously pursuing Ramsey.

Speaking on the Seleccione2 podcast, Vaca said: “I don’t know if they’re selling me smoke, they just told me that Aaron Ramsey is going to join Pumas. They told me it’s almost a confirmation.”
Aaron Ramsey has not played for Cardiff since March due to a hamstring injury and subsequent surgery, but when he took over as interim boss, he made clear that he was still focused on returning to action as a player.
Speaking in April, he said: “I am just taking these three games. I’m still recovering from a hamstring operation, I’m still in the middle of rehab and I’m focused on getting back to full fitness.”
