This offseason felt different for the Philadelphia Eagles than in previous years as it has been quiet for moves made.
The Eagles signed 12 players in free agency, but all of them are only under contract for one year. Philadelphia's only trades were C.J. Gardner-Johnson being sent to the Houston Texans for Kenyon Green and Kenny Pickett to the Cleveland Browns for Dorian Thompson-Robinson.
Usually, the Eagles would have one or two big trades or offseason moves, but this year was all about getting the young players on the roster ready to play in 2025. One move though might end up being the best signing and be impactful.
Eagles got the steal of free agency with edge rusher
One of the most notable signings from the offseason for the Eagles was bringing in edge rusher Azeez Ojulari. He's coming off a four-year run with the New York Giants, as they attempted to bring him back, but Ojulari wanted to join the Philadelphia Eagles instead.
In 46 career games, Ojulari made 107 tackles, 37 quarterback hits, 22 sacks, 21 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and three pass deflections. His best season came in his rookie season in 2021 where he posted eight sacks.
The biggest knock on Ojulari is his durability as he has missed 22 games. His injury history all includes calf, ankle, quad, and toe.
Through two weeks of OTAs, Ojulari appears to be in the running to at least be a rotational guy. A telling sign of his spot on the roster was the Eagles trading Bryce Huff to the San Francisco 49ers during the first week of OTAs.
Philly Voice Eagles reporter Jimmy Kempski noted that offloading Huff from the roster should indicate that Ojulari could secure a spot on the roster and receive significant playing time.
"They liked him enough that they signed him even if it meant losing a 2026 compensatory pick to do so. He's probably the third edge rusher on the totem pole, poised to be an important role player, assuming no other personnel moves are made on the edge the rest of the offseason."
"Would they have traded Huff if Ojulari didn't look right? I dunno. But I do think we can consider Ojulari's stock up a bit."

One move doesn't define whether Ojulari will be a steal for the Eagles, but watching his tape with the Giants shows the lightning speed he has off the line and his ability to get to the quarterback. He's an essential role player who could start if Jalyx Hunt doesn't develop like the team hopes he will.
Minicamp and training camp will give Eagles fans more look to see what kind of player Ojulari, but his potential is enough to get people excited about the depth off the edge.
