Arsenal working on renewing contracts of six first-team players after sealing Gabriel extension - Reports

After tying Gabriel Magalhaes down to a new long-term deal, Arsenal are planning to renew the contracts of six other first team stars, according to the Mirror. The north London side appointed Andrea Berta as their new sporting director earlier this year and are already preparing for an eventful summer.

The Gunners are close to securing the services of Chelsea custodian Kepa Arrizabalaga, while they are also working to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. However, Berta has contract renewals of many key first team players on his agenda as well.

Arsenal are eager to keep their squad intact as they work towards an exciting future. Bukayo Saka and William Saliba have been exceptional under Mikel Arteta but will enter the final two years of their contract this summer.

Both players have already held positive talks regarding a renewal and want to extend their stay at the Emirates. The Gunners are also ready to offer new deals with hefty pay hikes to talented academy graduates Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri.

The duo were very impressive with the first team this season and the north London side see them as key components of the future. Both players will enter the final year of their contracts this summer, but Arsenal are optimistic about keeping hold of them.

Thomas Partey, whose contract expires at the end of this month, is also in talks for a new deal. Leandro Trossard, meanwhile, is wanted in the Middle East, but wants to stay at the Emirates, and is engaged in talks regarding a renewal.

Are Arsenal interested in Nico Williams?

Nico Williams

Arsenal are eager to sign Nico Williams this summer, according to SPORT. The Spaniard is one of the most exciting forwards in European football at the moment and reportedly has admirers at Chelsea as well.

Williams registered 11 goals and seven assists from 45 games across competitions for Athletic Bilbao this season. The Gunners are pleased with his efforts and want to take him to the Emirates this summer.

The north London side are looking to add more bite to their attack, and want a new face to share the creative burden with Bukayo Saka. Williams fits the bill, and Arsenal are ready to trigger his £51m release clause this summer.

However, the 22-year-old doesn't want to leave the country, which is posing a problem. Williams would ideally like to join Barcelona, but the Catalan side are prioritising other targets.

His writing prowess has even led his work getting cited on the legendary Franz Beckenbauer's Wikipedia page.

Inspired by Diego Maradona, Deepungsu played as an attacking midfielder for his local club at subdivision level in his initial years and scored an important goal or two. However, his all-time favorite footballer is Lionel Messi, and evidently, he feels Argentina's glory in 2022 is his favorite FIFA World Cup moment for fulfilling his long-standing dream. He is also an ardent East Bengal fan.

Deepungsu has been a Manchester United supporter since the year 2000. Unsurprisingly, his favorite manager is Sir Alex Ferguson and the Scotsman helped him get through some of the toughest days of his life. Like the fiery Scot, Deepungsu also leaves no stone unturned when it comes to accuracy in articles and only relies on credible sources.

Despite believing in Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland to create an iconic rivalry, Deepungsu reckons no one can match the longevity of Messi and Ronaldo. He spends his leisure time writing about life on his blog, reading books, and playing the guitar.
