Bryan Mbeumo throws his arms up in the air to rally Brentford's supporters.
Manchester United are determined to sign Bryan Mbeumo.
Unless any unexpected developments come to fruition, Manchester United are not expected to make any further additions ahead of Tuesday night's 7pm transfer deadline.
The summer transfer window will temporarily close for just under a week after opening earlier than usual due to an exceptional registration period amid the new FIFA Club World Cup format.
The window will reopen again as soon as Monday, June 16, meaning United will once again be free to press ahead with their transfer plans.
The Reds have made a solid start to the off-season, signing Matheus Cunha from Wolves in a £62.5million deal and setting their sights on Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo. United have seen an opening offer worth £55m knocked back for the Cameroonian but they are expected to go back in with a revised bid.
Transforming the landscape of their attack has to be a leading priority for United this summer, meaning both incomings and outgoings are expected. With that said, MEN Sport has had a look at what deals United should be striving to complete over the next 12 weeks:
Incomings:
With Cunha already through the door, Mbeumo is widely expected to be United's second new arrival of the summer.
Although they are yet to agree a fee with Brentford for the 25-year-old, who plundered 20 Premier League goals this season, Mbeumo's desire to move to Old Trafford means there is an expectation a deal will get completed in the not too distant future.
The former Troyes man, who is understood to be valued at a similar price to the fee United paid for Cunha, has made it clear he wants to move to Old Trafford and strengthen Ruben Amorim's attack. The expectation is that he would occupy the right-sided No.10 role.
If United successfully add Mbeumo to the addition of Cunha, the missing piece in their attacking jigsaw will be a striker. Signing a centre-forward has to be United's main focus this summer after finishing each of the last two Premier League campaigns with a negative goal difference.

After missing out on top target Liam Delap to Chelsea, it remains to be seen in which direction United's search for a goal-getter will head in. However, links connecting the Reds with Sporting Lisbon goal machine Viktor Gyokeres have not gone away, and he remains increasingly likely to leave the Portuguese capital this summer.
No stranger to Amorim after working together at Sporting, it is widely reported the Swede will be available for somewhere in the region of £60m this summer. With Chelsea having signed Delap, Arsenal chasing Benjamin Sesko's tail and Victor Osimhen still being linked with Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal, United could find themselves in with a chance of having a clear run at the former Coventry City man.
He has scored a whopping 97 goals in 102 games for Sporting, meaning he is one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe. Of those 97 goals, 54 were scored this season, meaning he would be a shoo-in to lead United's attack.
Outgoings:
Despite United's eagerness to get on the front foot with their recruitment this summer, it is still almost certain there will be more outgoings than incomings at Old Trafford between now and the September 1 deadline.
and several are expected to be from the attacking department. After allowing Marcus Rashford and Antony to head out on loan in January, the Reds now hope to offload them permanently.
Alongside Jadon Sancho, Rashford and Antony have been identified as players United want to sell as a priority. Rashford is valued at £40m, Antony is available for around £32.5m and Sancho could attract a fee of around £25m after Chelsea pulled out of the obligation they were originally set to meet to sign him permanently.

No member of that particular trio has a future at Old Trafford in a winger-less system, meaning it would be in everyone's best interests to go their separate ways this summer. Antony has created a market for himself after impressing out on loan at Real Betis, scoring nine goals and registering five assists, while Barcelona have declared their interest in Rashford.
after Amorim informed him that he is free to leave the club this summer. He was benched for the Europa League final and left out of the squad for United's final Premier League game of the season against Aston Villa.
Napoli had a £40m bid turned down for Garnacho in January and United are expected to hold out for a higher fee. They could demand north of £50m for him.
Elsewhere, and United should attempt to offload him if an acceptable offer comes their way. The Dane regressed in his second season at Old Trafford, scoring just ten goals, and patience with him is wearing thin.
United need to raise as much money as possible this summer via player sales to fund new additions, meaning getting Hojlund off the books could increase their chances of securing a replacement and potentially strengthen other areas of the squad.
How the attack could look after seven more transfers:
No.10/attacking midfield options: Amad, Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount, Bruno Fernandes, Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Joshua Zirkzee (also a No.9 option).
No.9 options: Viktor Gyokeres, Joshua Zirkzee, Chido Obi.
