Former Manchester United defender Gary Pallister has urged the Red Devils to sign Brighton and Hove Albion attacker Kaoru Mitoma in the summer transfer window. The Englishman thinks the Japanese forward will be an impactful signing.
Marcus Rashford, who spent the second part of the 2024-25 season at Aston Villa on loan, is nearing a permanent departure from United. Meanwhile, Alejandro Garnacho can also leave the club amid interest from Serie A champions Napoli. As a result, Gary Pallister has advised Ruben Amorin to consider signing Mitoma.
The former English defender told Compare.bet (via*Metro*):
"I don't think you can ever have enough attacking options, and we have seen what Kaoru Mitoma can do in the Premier League."
"Marcus Rashford might be leaving the club, and Amad Diallo was the only forward hitting his top level before he got injured; the club needs back up in those areas. If Mitoma is available, then I'd like to see him at Old Trafford; he can make an impact," he added.
If Manchester United decide to pursue Kaoru Mitoma, they will face competition from other Premier League giants such as Liverpool and Arsenal. According to Sky Germany , Bayern Munich also have the Japanese forward on their transfer radar.
Mitoma joined Brighton from the Japanese side Kawasaki Frontale in August 2021. He was loaned to Belgium's Union Saint-Gilloise for the 2021-22 season. Following his return, he has been a key player for the Seagulls, playing 108 games across all competitions, scoring 24 goals and providing 20 assists.
Manchester United lead the race to sign 20-year-old after Real Madrid opt out: Reports
Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Como midfielder Nico Paz after Real Madrid decided not to pursue the 20-year-old this summer. According to CaughtOffside, United are keen on signing the Argentine midfielder, and Paz was also not convinced about joining Real Madrid.
Nico Paz joined Como from Los Blancos last summer for a reported transfer fee of €6 million. The LaLiga giants retained a 50% sell-on clause in addition to a €8 million buy-back clause.
Xabi Alonso is an admirer of the 20-year-old; however, he's not convinced about joining Real Madrid due to not being assured a regular spot in the first team. In his first spell at Santiago Bernabeu, he played only eight games for the first team and started only one match. If Manchester United can offer Nico Paz regular minutes, they are likely to sign him.
