Gittens wants to join Chelsea and has reached a verbal agreement with the West Londoners over a deal. Enzo Maresca’s side are determined to seal the player’s signing before Tuesday’s transfer deadline to register players for the Club World Cup.
The 20-year-old spent time in the Chelsea academy as a youngster before joining Dortmund from Manchester City in 2020.
He has made 108 senior appearances for the German side and enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2024/25. Gittens scored 12 goals in all competitions and led all Bundesliga players for successful take-ons and progressive carries per 90 minutes.
He has won 11 caps for England at u-21 level but was not included in the squad for this summer’s u-21 European Championship. The winger is expected to link up with Chelsea at the Club World Cup, if an agreement can be reached with Dortmund in the coming days.
