Blackpool are lining up a permanent move for loan star Harry Tyrer from Premier League side Everton, following the conclusion of his 2024/25 loan deal in League One.
Tyrer spent the entirety of last season between the sticks for Steve Bruce’s side and could find himself in contention of completing a permanent move to League One this summer.
Blackpool have already been busy in the summer transfer window so far and have set their sights on securing their latest potential signing ahead of their upcoming League Onecampaign.
Blackpool eye permanent Tyrer swoop
As reported by journalist Alan Nixon, Blackpool are lining up a permanent move for Everton’s Harry Tyrer, following the conclusion of a successful loan stint with the club.
Last summer, Everton extended Tyrer’s contract by a further year before his switch to Blackpool, meaning he is under contract at the Premier League side until June 2026 – ensuring Blackpool would need to pay a fee in order to secure his signature permanently.
Former Blackpool goalkeeper Dan Grimshaw recently joined Norwich City for an undisclosed fee from Plymouth Argyle, but there has been no indication as to whether Bruce’s side received any money from the deal which could have given them an increased budget.
How did he fare last season?
After playing a crucial role in Chesterfield’s promotion from the National League, Tyrer linked up with Blackpool and established himself as their number one goalkeeper fairly quickly.
Across all competitions last season, the 21-year-old featured 41 times and kept an impressive 13 clean sheets. He also conceded just 45 goals which is almost one per game, which at League One level is an impressive return.
Is a permanent exit likely?
Tyrer is 21-years-old and now has two senior first-team loan spells under his belt where he’s impressed in both.
With Alan Nixon also reporting that Everton are looking into a deal for Sheffield United’s Michael Cooper as a back-up to Jordan Pickford, it seems as though Tyrer won’t be in the plans for next season once again.
A permanent exit is likely to be more attractive than a season playing in the Premier League 2, which plays into Blackpool’s hands.
