Report: Man Utd offer £200,000-a-week to sign 'phenomenal' star after 'extensive' talks

Manchester United have reportedly offered Bryan Mbeumo £200,000 per week as they look to seal a deal for the Brentford forward.

The 25-year-old was one of the Premier League's best attackers last season and looks likely to be the second attacker to arrive at Old Trafford. Matheus Cunha became the club's first summer signing, arriving from Wolverhampton Wanderers in a £62.5m deal.

There were initial claims that Mbeumo had demanded £250,000 per week when news of his decision to join the Red Devils broke. The Cameroonian had snubbed interest from Champions League competing Newcastle United in favour of joining Ruben Amorim's side.

The Mirror reports that United are offering Mbeumo a contract package that starts at £150,000 per week, with add-ons rising to £200,000 per week. This aligns with the club's new wage structure, which INEOS has implemented since taking over the sporting operations.

Mbeumo reportedly earns £45,000 per week at Brentford, and United haven't agreed on a price with the Bees for the versatile winger. They value the 22-cap Cameroon international at £60m and have rejected an initial bid of £55m.

The club have held "extensive talks" with his camp for a significant period, and the player has made it known he desires the move. There are suggestions that Tottenham Hotspur could target the player should his current manager, Thomas Frank, replace Ange Postecoglou.

Mbeumo, dubbed 'phenomenal', has been with Brentford since the summer of 2019 and has grown into their talisman following the departures of Ollie Watkins, Said Benrahma, and Ivan Toney over the years. He enjoyed his best season to date in 2024-25 and has been earmarked for the right-wing berth in Amorim's new-look United side.
