Fabrizio Romano says Liverpool set to hold meeting next week to sign 'exceptional' star

Liverpool are set to hold a meeting this week with Bournemouth representatives over a deal to sign left-back Milos Kerkez, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Reds have been among the busiest clubs in the Premier League thus far in the summer transfer window. They completed an early deal to sign Bayer Leverkusen ace Jeremie Frimpong to replace the departing Trent Alexander-Arnold, while a record-breaking move for Florian Wirtz is currently in the works.

Arne Slot wants a new left-back as one of his signings this summer as well, and Kerkez is believed to be their number one priority.

Romano: Liverpool to 'Close Deal' for Kerkez this Week

They have already reached an agreement with the player

Speaking to his YouTube channel, Romano revealed that "one more meeting" will take place between Liverpool and Bournemouth, in which a deal for Kerkez's transfer will be finalised.

"So Milos Kerkez next week, new meeting will take place. This is the anticipation I have between Bournemouth and Liverpool to close the deal for Milos Kerkez. So I expect Kerkez to go to Liverpool. There is one more meeting to take place, and then Liverpool are expected to close this deal for Milos Kerkez, agreement done with the player."

The Merseyside outfit have remained persistent in their pursuit of the Hungarian, and have already reached an agreement on personal terms, while negotiations between clubs continue over a fee in the region of £40 million.

Kerkez endured a relatively slow start to life in the Premier League following his move from AZ Alkmaar in 2023, though he was firmly among the best left-backs in the league last term, notching two goals and five assists in 41 outings. Dubbed "exceptional", he is believed to be the ideal long-term successor to Andrew Robertson, who has less than a year remaining on his current agreement at Anfield.

Elsewhere, Liverpool continue their chase for Wirtz, with an agreement believed to be in reach at a total package worth over £125 million.
