Newcastle United standing firm on £32m defender as Manchester City seek quick deal - Fabrizio…

· 8 June 2025, 12:30

**This summer's transfer window is supposed to be all about additions for Newcastle United, who are looking for at least four first-team players to join the club: a goalkeeper, central defender, right winger and striker, but there's still potential exits which could change the narrative.**

Newcastle have reiterated their desire to keep their top stars this summer despite persistent speculation surrounding their top players.

Reports will keep suggesting that Liverpool have a chance to sign Alexander Isak, probably even after he signs a new deal at St James' Park.

Tonali is being endlessly linked with a return to Italy despite making it abundantly clear recently that he's happy on Tyneside and has no desire to leave.

Manchester City want Tino Livramento to replace Kyle Walker

-----------------------------------------------------------

While we've all learned to tune those stories out, there is one rumour that won't go away, probably because Fabrizio Romano keeps dragging it up, and that's the fact that Manchester City are eyeing Tino Livramento as a replacement for Kyle Walker.

Even though Fabrizio Romano keeps bringing up City's interest in Newcastle's £32 million full-back, he is at least reporting that Newcastle aren't willing to sell with his latest update on X suggesting that City want him in place before the Club World Cup gets underway.

> "Negotiations for Tino Livramento to Man City are currently complicated and on stand-by.

>

> "Newcastle are not reducing their asking price as they want to keep Livramento, almost impossible to agree on terms in time for Club World Cup."

Selling Tino Livramento would make no sense for Newcastle right now

-------------------------------------------------------------------

It would have to take some extraordinary offer to tempt Newcastle to part with one of their most promising young players.

Tino Livramento spent a large portion of last season playing out of position, covering at left-back for the injured Lewis Hall, and Tino thrived in that position.

His improvement was clear to see, and when he returns to his favoured right-back role, we expect that he will have improved dramatically there, too.

Tino has a huge future at Newcastle, and there's no way Eddie Howe will entertain the idea of selling him so early into his Toon career.
